first day.

yesterday was my first day at my new job! yes, i am officially an attorney in new orleans. well, not an attorney. a legal fellow who hopefully passed the bar. and whose criminal background check hasn't come in yet, so i cannot be around children, elderly or disabled individuals while at work. it's kind of awkward. come october, i should be official!

anyway, my first day was crazy busy. i didn't even stop to eat! things will inevitably calm down once i get myself organized (aka go ocd on my desk, track down a filing cabinet and buy myself a planner). everything is very exciting and pretty nerve-wracking. hopefully my second day will involve some sustenance.

i think it's about that time...

i am taking a hiatus from blogging. the bar exam is 2 weeks away! so i went on we heart it for some images of books to inspire me. at this point they've only inspired me to hit the road with my camera, lay around, drink coffee and wear cute clothes. so be it. wish me luck!

that's why god made mexico

the day i've been dreading for the last 3 years has arrived - bar review started today. well, ok, i guess i haven't dreaded bar review that much; really, it's the actual bar i've dreaded. and ever since i chose to take the longest bar in the country in the only state in the union that follows the civil code, my dread has increased exponentially, making bar review (i use that term loosely) of a type of law i never actually studied quite terrifying in and of itself. all in all, the day wasn't too terrible, minus the fact that the class started half an hour earlier than it normally will start AND we had to show up even earlier to register! not cool. to add insult to injury, all of my illinoisan compadres don't start review until monday - which is why two of my fellow grads are currently in mexico getting sunburned as i organize marty's socks to avoid studying. such is life.

the 100th

well, it finally happened! graduation, that is. i think it is incredibly appropriate that my 100th post is also the one where i finally get around to sharing pictures of my graduation! like any other ceremony, it wasn't terribly exciting. having to stand in my new shoes while all 322 graduates were named, hooded and walked across the stage was a very pleasant surprise. i shared the day with my family, however, and that was all i needed.
ela and casey, my parents' best friends, marty's mom and my mom
father and son, as if you couldn't tell
hooded! i am a juris doctor now
thank you to my wonderful family for making this day so special!

are you there, graduation? it's me, margaret

hello, long lost friends! i am taking this day to emerge from the library and give my brain a break. i just took part in a 3-day, 3-final marathon test-taking session and am spent. now, a mere two finals stand between me and graduation. i have nothing terribly interesting to report, other than the search for a graduation dress continues; i am avoiding packing like its the plague; and am overall very resentful of the finals cloud i'm under.

sidebar: walking home from my exam last night at 9 pm (so glamorous, i know), i traipsed past cafe bernard and saw this kick-ass cruiser for sale for the bargain price of $350. how ferosh is this bike? i'm a big fan, obvs.
have a great weekend, peeps. hopefully i'll be back soon!
